The firm

A Charleston practice with a desk in Richmond.

The firm was built around closely held companies and the families who own them. The other practices grew from that work.

Crown Hill Legal Group

Established 1994
Weekdays, nine to five.

Crown Hill opened on Crown Street in 1994 with a narrow docket: closely held companies and the families who owned them. Real property, employment, and civil disputes followed because those clients needed the work done in one place.

The Charleston office is still the principal seat. The Richmond office opened in 2008 for companies, land, and relatives that sit across the state line. A partner remains responsible for each matter from the first conversation through the last draft.

How the firm works

Three habits on every file

One partner on the file

The lawyer you meet stays on the matter. Work is not passed down a chain of people you have not met.

Plain writing

Advice and documents are written in sentences a client can use. If a course is a poor one, we say so before the draft begins.

A thin staff

Files are staffed with the lawyers the work requires. Hours are not added to make a matter look larger than it is.
